Sustaining DH was an outcome of an initial grant received by Dr. Alison Langmead and the Visual Media Workshop Team for the Sustaining MedArt project. Based on our findings from that initial granting period, we endeavored to build a prototype for a workshop that would walk individuals and teams creating digital research products through the process of developing a sustainability plan.
The result was the Socio-Technical Sustainability Roadmap, a module-based workshop designed to guide participants through the process of sustaining their user-facing, web-based digital humanities projects over time. The workshop takes an approach that emphasizes the importance of project management, staffing, and funding in digital preservation.
In August 2018, the project team received funding for an Institute for Advanced Topics in the Digital Humanities from the NEH Office of Digital Humanities.
